Patrolman Joseph A. Doucette was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on December 1, 1941, just six days before the United States entered WWII. He left the department to serve in the army during the war, and later rejoined the CPD. He served the the citizens of Cranston for 25 years before retiring in 1967. He passed away on September 2, 1994 at the age of 79. He was a communicant at St. Ann’s Church, a member of the IBPO, and the DAV chapter 10. He’s buried in Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.
