Officer Michael Gunson – Cranston Police

   

Officer Michael Gunson

     Officer Michael Gunson, (Badge 285), passed away on October 9, 1993.  Mike was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on September 5, 1987.  He was born in Rochester, N.Y. in 1958, to John and Donna Gunson.  He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, and trained with the Navy Seals.  During his career he served with the Patrol Division, and was an active member of the department’s Dive Team, and S.W.A.T. Team.  He is survived by his wife Maria and his son, Michael.

Detective George A. Michaud – Cranston Police

Det. George A. Michaud

     Detective George A. Michaud served the citizens of Cranston for 30 years before retiring in 1985.  He passed away on January 18, 1994 an the age of  64.  He’s buried in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Lieutenant Francis J. Kelly

     Lieutenant Francis J. Kelly was a  lifelong resident of Cranston and a navy veteran of World War II who continued to serve in the Naval Reserves after the war  and eventually earned the rank of chief petty officer.  During his career he designed and implemented an advanced reporting system for the department that was still in use in the 1990s.  He retired in 1968 at the rank of lieutenant after 25 years of service.  He passed away on March 16, 1994, and is buried the Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery in Exeter.

Officer Joseph A. Doucette – Cranston Police

Ptl. Joseph A. Doucette

     Patrolman Joseph A. Doucette was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on December 1, 1941, just six days before the United States entered WWII.  He left the department to serve in the army during the war, and later rejoined the CPD.  He served the the citizens of Cranston for 25 years before retiring in 1967.  He passed away on September 2, 1994 at the age of 79.  He was a communicant at St. Ann’s Church, a member of the IBPO, and the DAV chapter 10. He’s buried in Highland Memorial Park  in Johnston.

Sergeant Charles W. Beckman – Cranston Police

Sgt. Charles W. Beckman

     Sergeant Charles W. “Chuck” Beckman served the citizens of Cranston for 30 years before retiring in 1986.  He passed away on March 27, 1995 at the age of 61.  He was survived by his wife and five children, nine grandchildren, and his mother.
