Detective Raymond V. Deschene, a lifelong resident of Cranston,  passed away on September 19, 1989 at the age of 62.  He retired in 1974 at the rank of detective after 23 years of service to the citizens of Cranston.  He was a navy veteran of World War II.  After his retirement he worked for the Fleet National Bank security department for 15 years.  He’s buried in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Det. Kenneth Gilkenson

     Detective Kenneth Gilkenson, Sr., (59), passed away on October 6, 1990.  He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Bushman) Gilkenson, and father of retired CPD Detective Glen Gilkenson.  

     Ken retired from the Cranston Police Department in 1987 after 30 years of service.

     He’s buried in All Saints Cemetery in Warwick, R.I.

     Rest in peace our brother.  

     Sergeant Charles A. Carney was a veteran of WWII having served with the 873rd Airborne Div. in the South Pacific.  He was first appointed to the CPD in 1943, and served for 32 years before his retirement in 1973 at the rank of Sergeant.  In 1967 he was commended for the rescue of a young child and his mother from their burning home.  He passed away on October 15, 1990, and is buried  in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

      Captain Howard E. “Hunk” Jordon, Jr., was born in Providence and lived in Cranston most of his life. He was a navy veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW and the American Legion.  He was appointed to the CPD on October 20, 1939, and served the citizens of Cranston for 38 years before retiring in 1978 at the rank of captain.  He passed away on October 8, 1992, and is buried in Pocassett Cemetery in Cranston.

Sgt. George A. Seavor

     Sergeant George A. Seavor was born in Providence and lived most of his life in Cranston.  He retired in 1968 at the rank of Sergeant in charge of the Juvenile Division.  He was survived by his wife and two sons, a sister, five grandchildren, and three great-grand-children.   He passed away on March 30, 1993 at the age of 86.
