Officer Francis A. Schinse – Cranston Police

     Detective Francis A. Schinse joined the Cranston Police Department in 1942.  In 1950 he was promoted to detective.  He retired in February of 1965, and passed away on April 6, 1977.

Chief Louis B. Fouchecourt – Cranston Police

Chief Louis Fouchecourt

     Chief Louis B. Fouchecourt was born in 1907 and grew up in Cranston.  He was appointed to the police department in September of 1930, and appointed Chief of Police on September 25, 1950.  Chief Fouchecourt is credited for obtaining the site of Cranston’s current police academy complex and shooting range, as well as with establishing the first K-9 Unit in 1963.   After his retirement in 1966 he took a job as executive director for the Cranston Housing Authority.  He passed away in December of 1977.

Sergeant Walter C. Busby III – Cranston Police

Sergeant Walter Busby III

     Sergeant Walter C. Busby III passed away on February 12, 1979, while struggling with a suicidal man.  He is buried  in St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Lieutenant William J. Nixon – Cranston Police

Lt. William J. Nixon

     Lieutenant William J. Nixon was appointed to the Cranston Police Department on January 17, 1936.   He passed away on May 20, 1981, at the age of 77, and is buried Elm Grove Cemetery in North Kingstown.

Detective Anthony Iannotti – Cranston Police

Appointed Dec. 28, 1958

     Detective Anthony “Butch” Iannotti, (48), passed away on February 4, 1982.  he was appointed to the CPD on December 28, 1958, and during his career served in the patrol division, the B. C. I. division, and the traffic division.

     He was an army veteran of the Korean War, and a graduate of the U.R.I. School of Criminalistics. 

     He is survived by his wife and daughter, his parents, and maternal grandmother.

     He’s buried in St. Ann’s cemetery.
