June 3, 2016 – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lt. Joseph J. Cicione Jr. on May 30, 2016. Born in Cranston, Joe was the beloved husband of Virginia M. (Annotti) Cicione and the son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Bertha (Bonhomme) Cicione. After serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, Joe joined the Cranston Police Department where he proudly served the citizens of Cranston for twenty years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant. Never an individual to be idle, Lt. Cicione was very active in the St. Mary’s Church and school, and served as President of the Knightsville Seniors Club and the Cranston Police Department Retiree Association. He was also a strong supporter and active member in Local 301, Internal Brotherhood of Police Officers and donated his time to many community organizations. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Bernadette Cicione, Maryellen Cicione, Joseph Cicione III and his wife Kerri and his cherished grandson Joseph “JJ” Cicione IV. He was the brother of the late Louise Boezi and William Cicione. Joe, we as an association of retired Cranston Police Officers can never thank you enough for all you have done for us and the department. Although gone from this life, you will never be forgotten.
We will miss you at our monthly X-Cop’s Breakfast – Rest in Peace Our brother.
